Lost Man loop trail head
Fourteen miles east of Aspen, near Independence Pass, at 10,504 foot elevation is the Lost Man Loop trail head. The scenic 9 mile loop takes the hiker to Independence Lake and over a 11,504 foot pass to Lost Man Lake. A reasonable day hike is to Independence Lake and back. When the pass first opens on Memorial Day the loop provides an excellent cross-country skate ski for the entire loop. You can also access the trail from Lost Man reservoir about 2.5 miles down the road.
